Here you will find singing exercises designed specifically to release tension and ease you through your vocal bridges. Remember- if it hurts, don't do it! Singing should actually feel easier (less pressure) as you ascend in pitch. I will explain more about why later, but for now, lets get started!
The first vocal exercises you will be learning will be utilizing Lip Rolls. Watch this video to find out what a lip roll is and to experiment with it throughout your comfortable vocal range.
Now, the first Lip Roll scale. Both the men and the ladies scales are on the same video, with an important introduction so don't skip to the scale unless you have already viewed the vital info in the intro. If you feel a lot of vocal tension, try bending at the waste to 90 degrees as you ascend in pitch, and returning to an upright position as you descend in pitch. It might seem to look funny and be counter intuitive to the whole "sit up straight, breathe deeply, support!!!" vocal instruction you may have had in the past, but it WILL help you get through your bridges.
Next, let's work on stabilizing that larynx with some dopey "Muhms."
If you are still having trouble, write me a comment and I'll post a response to your problem as soon as possible.
